Community Information
Bloomington-Normal offers excellent facilities, accessibility and superb services at an affordable cost. Centrally located along Interstates 55, 74 and 39, and only 2 ½ hours from Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis, the Bloomington-Normal Area is Central Illinois’ premier meeting, convention and tourism destination.
 
Schools
Bloomington - Normal Voters recently passed a referendum ttat allows for the building two new elementary schools and a middle school, expanding Sugar Creek Elementary School, renovating existing eight schools and installing security and technology improvements to 15 additional schools.
The referendum to issue $96.7 million in building bonds was passed 11,796 to 8,351, and the proposal to raise property taxes by 10 cents per $100 equalized assessed valuation was passed 10,402 to 9,888.
One new elementary school will be located in the a subdivision called Cedar Ridge. It is located south of Veterans Parkway and just East of Highway 51 on Woodrig Road.

It is being developed in cooperation with Snyder Corporation, City of Bloomington, and National City Mortgage. The program offer great incentives for those interested in high quality home at affordable prices in Bloomington, Illinois.
The new middle school will be located at the new intersection of the extended Hershey Road and Route 150.
Retail Data
Bloomington - Normal had a projected change in retail sales of 27.3 percent between 2002 and 2007. Bloomington-Normal's projected retail sales growth is among the highest in the state and larger than that of its Central Illinois neighbors, including Champaign-Urbana, Peoria, Decatur and Springfield.
